Speedflex Q&A – Amy Yates
This month, one of Speedflex Leeds’ newest Trainers, Amy, shares her practical life advice for cutting mangos, as well as her love for running.
Who is your hero/who do you look up to?
An Ultra/Fell runner called Nicky Spinks, she is a cancer survivor who now holds the overall record for the Double Bob Graham Round. I’m inspired by her determination and she’s definitely a hero in my eyes.
Where in the world would you most like to visit?
I can’t pinpoint just one there’s too many places on my bucket list, I would love to travel and see as much of the world as I possibly could.
What’s your favourite film and song?
I love anything Disney! And my favourite song is Elton John – Tiny Dancer.
If you could have any job in the world, which one would you choose?
Something that involved travelling the world and was connected to the fitness industry.
What’s the best piece of advice anybody has given you?
My nanas advice on how to cut a mango, I found it impossible to do before her mango cutting lesson.
If you were stranded on a desert island and you could choose three things to have, what would they be?
Bear Grylls survival manual, a solar powered fridge with an emergency supply of chocolate, and sun cream to get a nice even tan.
You’re hosting a dinner party and can invite any three people (dead or alive) who would you invite and why?
Nicky Spinks so I could get running advice and tips, Elton John so he could sing to me and David Attenborough so he could tell me stories and show me cute photos of penguins.
What one item would you want to save if your house was on fire?
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Nanas homemade lasagne with veg.
For you, what’s the best thing about training at Speedflex?
Being able to reach the high intensity levels without the associated DOMS.
