Why this charity?
Walking With The Wounded was established in 2010, in order to champion those service men and women who have put their lives on the line for us, suffering horrific, often life-changing, injuries.
The charity’s mission it to ensure these soldiers can have a secure future to support their families and themselves by securing funding for re-training and educating, as well as keeping them in the public eye, in order to raise awareness, by undergoing inspirational expeditions, like the Cumbrian Challenge.
What is the Cumbrian Challenge?
The Cumbrian Challenge is held in Grasmere in the picturesque Lake District, every May. Teams consist of four people, with each team supporting a wounded veteran back to independence.
Whether you’re a repeat ‘Cumbrian Challenger’ or a novice, the three different routes provide a range of difficulty levels:
- Route 1 ‘Peak’: 1 Peak – 16km
- Route 2 ‘Tough’: 3 Peaks – 23km
- Route 3 ‘Toucher: 4 Peaks –29km
Why get involved?
Training at Speedflex, and entering this challenge, go hand in hand. Speedflex is a great endurance tool, staff members have completed the course in previous years in record times, and (believe it or not) it’s also an enjoyable day for everyone involved (especially if the sun shines).
As well as this, the challenge gives an opportunity for teams to train together at Speedflex, providing goals to work towards, fundraise together and experience the weekend together – and most importantly raise money and awareness for those who sacrificed their futures for us.
